Commissions are Open!

[12/365] - Hey! Sorry I've been gone for the past few days. It's been a little hectic, what with the last month of the semester approaching. I've also started accepting commissions, so that's taken up some of my time as well. Speaking of which...

I'm now doing $3 commissions! You're guaranteed a sketch with at least 30 - 40 minutes of love put into it.

Although I don't necessarily need the money in order to survive, I'd be grateful for any and all help to get the funds to make something special happen for someone who's very, very dear to me.

I accept payment through Paypal. Contact me at dahee.im@gmail.com if you're interested.

Here are some examples of commissions I've already completed!

And finally, a few things I've been doing in my free time:

Inspired

[9/365] - Drew this while watching Millennium Actress with the bae. That film... is so inspiring. Everything about the movie is amazing. I'm overwhelmed. I have no words... so I'll leave it at that.

More OC Talk

[8/365] - Oh no! I forgot to upload something on here yesterday. I'm sorry. Anyways, for tonight, I answered more questions about my characters.

1. Your first OC ever?
My first was Dao, but I won’t draw him again since you guys already saw him in the last ask I answered.

2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?
Hm… probably Dao? As a person, at least. In terms of drawing, though, my favorite is Isaiah. His hair is so lovely.

49. Which one of your OCs would most likely enjoy memes?
Probably Leilani. She seems like the type of person who would like memes…

Bouncing Man

[7/365] - We hit the one week mark! This time, I wanted to do a quick animation. I have a lot to work on in terms of animation, but one step at a time, right? For this one, I really wanted to push the spacing and take big risks - which seems to be the name of the game these days, haha. The second half of this semester has been all about doing things for fun and being a little crazier. How crazy will I go...? Stay tuned!

Portrait Study

[6/365] - A head/portrait study for today. I had fun with this one... just trying out different techniques while studying at the same time. I really love drawing heads, so this was a treat to work on.

OC Talk

[5/365] - Today, I answered questions about my original characters. I had a lot of fun drawing these guys and thinking back to all the great times I had with them...

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?
This is Dao, the very first OC I ever made that I actually kept/remembered for more than, like, two days. He started off as an edgemaster firebender whose father died during the war and whose mother committed suicide. Now, he’s a receptionist at a big fancy pants gym, daydreams a lot, insecure about his soft features, a little awkward but not really shy (just quiet), doesn’t understand romance but willing to enter into a committed, monogamous relationship with anyone who’s nice, feeds him, and wants him around. So… basically a puppy.

HUGE change, haha. A change for the better, in my opinion. I still consider him the same character because, for one, his hair has stayed more or less exactly the same since day 1. But also because his name is the same. Yeah. Those are my reasons.
36. Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)?
Okay, like, 100% of my OCs are in pairings with someone else’s character because I love watching how the relationships play out. It’s like being in a relationship yourself without the heartbreak being a real thing, even if it feels like it is.
One of my favorite pairings was my character Kishi and Tsuki, who I never figured out how to draw so fuck that. Kishi was beautiful. And tragic. Beautifully tragic. Basically everything that I ever wanted out of an OC. And the RP itself was really fun, but I guess all good things must come to an end at some point. The other person lost interest in her character, and that was that.

Peace

[4/365] - As promised, a one hour commitment for this Saturday. To be honest, I think this took over an hour. I've spent more time than thirty minutes on the other days as well, haha. In any case, this is my favorite champion in League of Legends, Karma. She's fun to play and has a really pleasing design as well. I want to get really good at painting portraits more than anything else... this one's pretty stylized, but I'll do more realistic studies in the future. I had fun with this piece, even though it was a bit of a challenge.

Lollipop

[3/365] - I went straight for the linework and really tried to just play this time around. I like the result, but I think I can push further. I might give this kind of loose style another go later today if I have time... stay tuned!

Hands(ome)

[2/365] - Decided to draw some hands then splashed some color on them after getting the lines. I've never been one for colors... but coloring in various techniques and understanding color itself are two skills that I'd like to improve, so I pushed myself today. Reference was my trust left hand. It looks like these lefties are about to fight... I wonder who would win.

Deux Deuces [1/365]

Hey, thanks for popping onto my blog.

Today begins my 365 day challenge. The goal is to set aside at least 30 minutes for personal work every day, with a 1 hour commitment every Saturday. I want and need to make more art for myself and no one else, because that's the only way I'll grow as an artist. So, here goes.

----------------------

[1/365]For this image, I started with a quick sketch of her head in the morning while still half-asleep. I liked the sketch because it was very fresh and decisive. I didn't squiggle mindlessly like I tend to and simply drew what I had in mind. After I came back home (and took a nap), I decided that I really wanted to take it further, so I drew in the rest of her. By that time, I really, really wanted to see her through, so I added color. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with how she came out. Maybe I'll draw more of this character in the future. In my mind, she's a quiet extrovert who everyone mistakes as shy or cold because she doesn't talk much. I want to explore more of who she is... stay tuned!
